SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS – The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Springfield Airport Authority by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for its Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2020. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Frank J. Vala, Chair of the Springfield Airport Authority Board of Commissioners stated, “The Springfield Airport Authority maintains its long standing core principles of being enterprising, creative and transparent. The SAA’s annual financial report illustrates our continued commitment of having an entrepreneurial mindset that emphasizes innovation, operational efficiency, and budgetary discipline while providing a complete public and transparent disclosure of our financial position.” Vala concluded by proclaiming, “Complements are due to the SAA’s staff, as this achievement and recognition is a direct reflection on their professionalism, expertise and attention to detail.”

The Springfield Airport Authority is a multi-year winner of this award having received it the past eighteen (18) consecutive years.
