Buying flights can be a minefield. Want to fly on a budget? Then finding the best flights can be a real challenge.

If you’re looking to save when traveling out of Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, then here are 5 tips for getting the best deals available.

1. Find the Cheapest Day to Fly Out

The Skyscanner app is a great tool you can use to identify the cheapest days to fly out. There are many theories out there as to what the cheapest days to fly out are. For example, conventional wisdom often suggests that the best day is Tuesday.

The truth is, there’s no consistent logic to how cheap or expensive a flight is going to be. The best method is, therefore, using an app to quickly and conveniently reference prices.

To find the cheapest flights, enter your desired departure and arrival cities. Then select “one way”.

Even if you’re planning a round trip, you should still click this. This is because you’re trying to see the cheapest days to fly.

Click “depart”, but rather than enter a date, select the option for a whole month. This will let you browse the price of every day of the month to find the cheapest.

2. Use Budget Airlines

One of the most straightforward ways to get a cheaper flight is to simply fly with a budget airline. When you’re flying from Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, you can get flights from Allegiant, which is a budget airline based out of Las Vegas.

Of course, flying budget means you’ll have to make some compromises. For example, you probably won’t get any free food on board and not as much leg room.

3. Keep Your Searches Incognito

Have you ever noticed that flight prices seem to change when you look at them for a second time? It’s not your imagination!

Sadly, flight booking websites often used your browser’s cookies to determine if you’ve been searching repeatedly for a second flight. If it identifies that you have, they might try and raise the price on you.

You should always search for flights on incognito mode. Failing to do so could result in you being overcharged, big time.

4. Use the Right Flight Search Tools

When you use online tools to search for a flight, take care you use the right ones. Using the wrong flight search engine could result in you being overcharged.

For example, if you use Expedia, you might pay more. Examples of good flight search engines include Skyscanner, JetRadar and Google Flights.

5. Use the True Cost Calculator

When flying out from Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, you can use this convenient True Cost Calculator to compare the price of the whole trip, not just the flight. The True Cost Calculator includes variables like parking charges and time spent on the road.
